Step-by-Step Garden Design Process

Initial Site Visit

Nina, our Garden Designer, conducts a site visit of your garden and discusses your preferences and requirements with you. It’s an enjoyable, interactive process, during which Nina aims to understand how you’ll be using your garden, your likes and dislikes. It’s an opportunity to get creative!

She’ll professionally assess your garden’s potential taking into account soil type, size, shape, aspect and micro climate.

Following the site visit, Nina will provide you with a quote for the design work.

Site Survey

If you’d like to proceed with the design work, a complete site survey will be carried out. This establishes parameters within which the new design will be created. From this a plan is drawn to scale, which includes every detail of the existing garden – structures, hard landscaping, trees, plants, lawns and water features. A site analysis is also carried out at the same time to record non-measurable information such as location, architecture, orientation, climate, soil type and quality, environmental factors, features, drainage and other services.

Garden Design Presentation

Following the site survey, Nina draws up a detailed scale plan and a 3D visualisation.

When the design presentation is complete and you are happy with our proposals, Nina will present your new design. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about the design, make minor changes and discuss the quote for landscaping. If any amendments are required, we’ll update our quote and notify you afterwards by phone or email.

Garden Build

The price of the garden build is given in the budget section of the design package. Work is scheduled according to availability and budgeting requirements. Occasionally, projects can be completed in stages if required. Price depends on the level of work required, starting from around £5,000 for the smallest projects, £10,000 for a basic garden build and averaging £20,000 – £25,000.

Once the quote and proposal has been agreed with you, we will prepare a contract, which you’ll need to sign before we go ahead. You will also need to pay to us a deposit equivalent to 25% of the garden build cost.

Upon receipt of your deposit we will book your work into our landscaping schedule and source the best quality plants and the materials needed for your garden build. We will start your work when it is convenient for you. The duration of the build will vary according to the size and complexity of the project. The weather also dictates the timescale and progress, however, we do our utmost to complete your project as soon as possible and to the highest standards, keeping you informed at all times.

Garden Aftercare

As a garden build client you’ll receive a comprehensive after care pack, which includes individual plant care and general maintenance advice. If required, we can supply ongoing garden treatments and garden care services for you (quoted for separately).
